Covid-19: People fined for travelling for a burger, leaving gym and more
Level 5 restriction only allow people to exercise within 5km of their home.
Three people from Co Meath were fined because they had travelled 80km for a burger. A couple in Cork city who told gardaí they were visiting an elderly relative but went on to a local amenity.
Two cyclists from separate households were fined after being stopped near Carrick in Co Galway. They were 19km from home county.
In north Co Dublin, gardaí observed four people leaving the rear of a gym. On further examination two gym instructors claimed to be working from the gym as they had no internet available at home to conduct online sessions.

Driver in breach of the 5km travel restriction after travelling 90km for a non-essential reason & faces a €100 fine. Driver was also a learner permit holder so vehicle seized.
