“We have achieved our goal of suppressing the spread of the disease, it was not easy for anyone but there is no question that our collective effort has saved lives,” Dr Tony Holohan, Chief Medical Officer, Department of Health, said.
HEALTH OFFICIALS HAVE confirmed this evening that a further 29 people have died from Covid-19 in Ireland. A further 137 cases of Covid-19 have also been confirmed here, bringing the total number of cases to 22,385. The overall death toll from the virus in Ireland is 1,404.

It comes as a further four coronavirus-linked deaths have been reported by the Department of Health in Northern Ireland
Figures released on Thursday show that up to 9.30am there were two deaths in the past 24 hours and another two previously unreported.
The death toll in Northern Ireland now stands at 422.
