Covid-19: 1,372 more cases and 7 deaths; Level 5 restrictions will remain until 5 March

The Department of Health has confirmed 1,372 new cases of Covid-19 and 7 deaths.

There have now been a total of 188,923 confirmed cases of Covid-19 and 2,977 deaths related to the virus in Ireland.

The cabinet sub-committee on coronavirus greed that the current Level 5 restrictions will remain in place until 5 March.

The committee also signed off on mandatory quarantine for those travelling into Ireland without a negative PCR test. They will have to pay for their own stay in quarantine hotels which are to be policed by private security firms. They will be required to pay for a Covid-19 test after five days and if they get a negative result will be permitted to leave. Those who receive a positive result will be required to remain in quarantine at their own expense for up to two weeks.
