Bank of Ireland’s extra fees are part of a new charging structure, where 26 individual charges will be replaced with a fixed €6 monthly fee.
AIB will impose fees for customers who previously kept a minimum daily balance of €2,500 in their account throughout the fee quarter.
Bank Of Ireland
“The new monthly fee will be charged to personal customers for the first time on 31 December 2020. This will cover the month of December.
“31 December 2020 is also the date that personal customers will be charged the old-style quarterly transactions fees for the last time. While both of these charges are applied on the 31 December 2020, they cover two different fee-charging periods.”
Bank of Ireland eliminated individual transaction charges for personal account customers and replaced them with a single flat fee of €6 per month for maintaining their account.
As a result, there will be no individual bank charges for the following:
· Debit card contactless transactions
· Debit card chip and PIN transactions
· Debit card online transactions
· ATM and lodgement transactions
· Automated / self-service transactions (e.g. direct debit, standing orders)
· Over-the-counter in-branch transactions
· Unpaid direct debits, unpaid standing orders, unpaid cheques or referral items
However, to reiterate, their ‘no transaction fees’ offer – where personal current account holders with a minimum balance of €3,000 for an entire fee quarter were not charged account transaction fees – has ended.
AIB
In relation to AIB’s new fee structure, they are now introducing fees for customers who keep a minimum daily balance of €2,500 in their account throughout the fee quarter.
From 28 November 2020, regardless of the minimum daily balance maintained throughout the fee quarter, they’re going to start applying these fees which will be charged quarterly from 29 March 2021.
AIB will continue to provide contactless transactions free of charge to all their personal customers.
