在Covid-19危機期間,有很多人想收養母雞。利特希爾動物救援組織(Littlehill Animal Rescue)表示,過去幾週, 收到公眾要求。
目前沒有母雞可收養,但五月份將有數百隻母雞在尋找新家。
創始人Susan Anderson解釋為何需求如此之高;
“我想我們回到了過去, 如果在後花園有兩隻或三隻小母雞,那麼每天都會保證有雞蛋”
她說, 在接下來的幾週內,將有數百隻本來要運往屠宰場的母雞可收養 ;
“我們要求的是,要有牠們終生的家,您才能帶牠們回去, 牠們是 有雞蛋 的寵物,不要在危機爆發的短時間才愛惜牠們”
There’s been a surge of people looking to adopt a hen during the Covid-19 crisis.
Littlehill Animal Rescue says it’s been inundated with calls from the public in the last few weeks.
There’s no hens available at the minute but there will be hundreds looking for homes in May.
Founder Susan Anderson explained why they’re in such high demand;
“I suppose we’ve gone back to the old days with food being kind of hard to come by nowadays with long queues and all the rest of it
“If you have your two or three little hens in the back garden you’re guaranteed eggs everyday
Susan told us there’ll be several hundreds available in the coming weeks, that were destined for slaughterhouses;
“What we would ask is that you only take them if they have a home for life
“They must be pets, with eggs, don’t take them for just a short period while the crisis is on
